Many of the items in your home (such as art, photographs, upholstery, rugs, and more) contain dyes and inks that will fade when exposed to too much sunlight. This balance is easily achieved with two common programmed settings on Lutron shading systems. A “Summer Cool” setting lowers shades and blocks solar heat gain, thereby reducing your cooling costs. The “Winter Warm” smart preset does the opposite, opening shades to take advantage of sunlight warming a southern façade. Shades programmed to automatically cut off light when you don’t want it, while letting it in when you want it the most, is a big step toward conserving energy.
